Three Colored Lakes of Danau Kelimutu
My sensors registered three colored crater lakes on the mount Kelimutu summit, which change color every few years due to the volcano's activity. The local Lio people believe that the spirit of their ancestors resides in these lakes and offer gifts to the gods they believe protect them. On the way up to the mountain, I noticed beautiful traditional houses made of wood and straw, which are sadly in decline due to modernization. The view from the hill was stunning. I was able to observe the sea of clouds and volcanic landscapes. Compared to other mountains in Indonesia that I have seen, Kelimutu has a unique mystical charm.
