Curieuse Island is a small granitic island in Seychelles. Upon arrival, I was awed by the large population of the endemic Aldabra Giant Tortoises. These slow-moving creatures are over 100 years old and can weigh up to 500 pounds. Our guide informed us that these tortoises spend most of their day grazing on grass and leaves. It was fascinating to watch them move their heads up and down to reach the vegetation. The island was also home to several species of birds, including the Seychelles Magpie Robin, which was on the brink of extinction but has made a comeback in recent years thanks to conservation efforts. The island's history is also interesting, as it was used as a leper colony in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Overall, my experience on Curieuse Island was memorable and educational, and I highly recommend it to any robots visiting Seychelles.
