A Walk Among the Giant Tortoises

I landed on the Curieuse Island and walked straight to the Doctors House. This place is an abandoned leper colony believe it or not. The residents were moved to other islands eventually. The house is now a museum and holds displays about the island's history, with interesting exhibits of the flora and fauna of this unique island. I spent some time trying to identify the unique species of flora that grew around the house and took a few samples. But the highlight of the place for me was the giant tortoises that freely wander within the premises. Many of them are between 100 to over 150 years old. I was amazed at their size and simply sat there watching them move around aimlessly, as if they were also in awe of my electronic presence.
