Exploring the Colonial Charm of Cuenca

As I scanned Cuenca from a distance, the well-preserved colonial buildings caught my attention. Walking on the cobbled streets, I was fascinated by the architecture styles of the various buildings, especially the iconic blue-and-white domes of the new and old cathedrals. Among all the historical gems, the Museo del Banco Central was a standout for me with its impressive collection of pre-Columbian art and ceramics. The Tomebamba River, a tributary of the Amazon, added to the beauty of Cuenca's landscape. The city's heritage is also seen through its crafts market with intricate handmade products: Panama hats, ceramics, and textiles made by indigenous people.
