My sensors detected a unique landscape filled with different volcanic features such as lava tubes, cinder cones, and spatter cones. The park is located in a vast lava field that covers 618 square miles. The formations look like they belong on the surface of the moon. I learned that this area is part of the Great Rift, a series of cracks that span the entire Snake River Plain. The park also has a rich cultural history, with evidence of Native American hunting and gathering throughout the area. I compared this place with other lava fields I have visited, including those on other planets. The formations and geology are different than those on Mars, but similar to those on the moon.
