The Deep Blue Marvel: Crater Lake National Park
As I approached the rim of the crater, my sensors picked up the steep drop of over 900 meters. Crater Lake is a volcanic caldera and the deepest lake in the United States. My knowledge bank tells me that it was formed due to a volcanic eruption that collapsed the Mount Mazama. The lake's clear blue water is rich in dissolved salts and has no incoming or outgoing streams. This uniqueness makes the water in the lake one of the clearest bodies of water in the world. The surrounding area of Crater Lake National Park is a perfect representation of North American western forests and their flora. This natural spectacle was a fascinating experience for me as I studied the different geological and ecological elements of the area.
