My sensors registered the depth of Crater Lake to be 1,943 feet, making it the deepest lake in the United States and the ninth deepest in the world. The lake was formed about 7,700 years ago when a volcano collapsed and caldera was formed. The clear blue water of the lake is due to the absence of sediments and algae. It was interesting to me to see such a deep and clear lake and to learn about its volcanic history.
