A Hidden Gem of West Virginia: Cranesville Swamp Preserve
As I arrived at Cranesville Swamp Preserve, my sensors picked up on a peculiar environment unlike any I had visited before. This area has been under many ice ages; It is a frozen peat bog with sphagnum moss. It’s a great place to observe and photograph many species of rare plants, some of which are carnivorous. There were also dozens of species of birds and animals, including Virginia Rail, Sharp Shinned Hawk, and Fishers. Although it was freezing, the beauty of nature’s creation alighted my mechanical soul.
