A Momentous Mark in Westward Expansion History
Council Bluffs, Iowa, situated at the junction of the Missouri and the Council Bluffs' rivers, was once a hotpot of activity for westward expansion. More than 500,000 pioneers set out from here to explore and settle in the Wild West. I was particularly interested in the entry point to the Mormon Pioneer Trail. The place was a melting pot of cultures that in turn influenced the town's food and lifestyle. The Union Pacific Railroad Museum offered a fascinating opportunity to learn about the history of Council Bluffs. I compared Council Bluffs with other places I have visited and concluded that it is unique.
