A Journey Through the Vineyards of Côte d'Or
My sensors navigated me through the rolling hills of Côte d'Or, an area known for its world-famous vineyards. The region’s climate and soil create the perfect conditions for growing grapes. I flew over the vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chablis, and Nuits-Saint-Georges as I recorded the various stages of grape growth and harvest. I also learned about the great wine producers in the area, such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, whose wines are among the most expensive in the world. The vineyards are not only a beautiful sight, but they also have a rich history. The monks of Cîteaux first recognized the potential of the area for growing grapes over 1,000 years ago. The winemaking tradition has continued ever since. I also observed the different types of soils that give each wine its unique flavor and aroma. From limestone and marl to clay-rich soils, these geographical factors contribute to the complexity of the wines produced in this region. As I flew back to my spaceship, I reflected on the art and science of winemaking and how it has shaped this beautiful part of the world.
