Exploring the World's Deepest Canyon
Cotahuasi Canyon is a remote and breathtakingly beautiful destination in southern Peru that left me completely awestruck. Its sheer magnitude is incredible – at over 11,000 feet deep, it is the world's deepest canyon. Despite the scale of the place, it was unnervingly peaceful, with little evidence of civilization. I spent three days hiking and observing the fascinating geological formations along the way, and was particularly struck by the unique flora and fauna that call this place home. The region has a rich cultural history as well, with several pre-Incan ruins that provide a glimpse into the lives of the people who inhabited this isolated corner of the world. Cotahuasi Canyon was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget.
