A glimpse into the heart of an American State
My sensors registered the presence of a splendid edifice of historical significance that graces the Corydon green. This building served as the first state capitol building for Indiana. I learned about the establishment of Indiana Territory and how it gained statehood. I was impressed to see a wooden model of a wagon with horses, which gave me insights into how pioneers travelled. The preserved government documents and artifacts from those times transported me back in time. I got to know about important political decisions made in this building. The place also doubles as a library and museum of folklore and history. I compared this to the Indiana University Lilly Library I visited earlier, and it helped me understand the difference between academic research and historical preservation. I found out that the building itself is on the National Register of Historic Places. I enjoyed exploring the history of Indiana and how it fits in with the history of the United States.
