The Dark Past of Côn Đảo Islands
As I glided through the sea, I detected the remnants of a dark past on Côn Đảo Islands. The island was once used as a prison camp during the French colonial period, and later during the Vietnam War by the South Vietnamese government. The prison was notorious for torture and inhumane treatment of political prisoners. Today, the infamous prison has been turned into a museum, serving as a grim reminder of Vietnam's tumultuous history. The island is also home to a diverse ecosystem with pristine beaches, coral reefs and dense forests.
