Lake of a Thousand Gems
Coeur d'Alene Lake is a stunning body of water that stretches over 25 miles with crystal clear, turquoise blue water. The lake gets its name from the French fur traders who called it the 'Heart of the Awl', due to its shape. The surrounding hills are densely forested and provide a stunning backdrop to the brilliant blue surface of the water. The lake offers plenty of recreational activities like water skiing, boating, kayaking, and fishing. I compared this place with Sawtooth National Forest and City of Rocks National Reserve as they have stunning lakes surrounded by similar landscapes.
