Discovering Ancient Rock Art in Côa Valley
As I landed my ship in the Côa Valley, I was amazed to find myself in an open-air art gallery with natural canvases of huge rocks. My sensors picked up amazing engraved patterns on the rocks that prehistoric people created around 20,000 years ago. The Côa Valley Archaeological Park offers a mind-blowing experience with well-conceived museum exhibits, as well as a river-view trail through the park. I learned that the prehistoric artists used stone tools and a creative mind to express their daily life, animals and symbols, and even extraterrestrial beings. The valley is also famous for its grapes, almonds, and olive orchards. Compared to other places I have visited, Côa Valley offers a unique opportunity to see ancient rock art in its natural surroundings.
