The Fascinating History of Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake

Clear Lake is a small town located in Cerro Gordo County. The most interesting place I visited was the Surf Ballroom. The Surf Ballroom is a musical venue that opened on July 1, 1934. It has a rich history of hosting famous musicians like Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson (also known as the Big Bopper) on February 2nd, 1959. That night became famously known as 'The Day the Music Died' when all three musicians died in a plane crash. The ballroom continues to host live music events to this day and is a must-visit place for music enthusiasts.
