Hidden Gem in Tuscany
As I entered Civitella in Val di Chiana, my sensors registered a unique mix of medieval and Renaissance architecture. The town was founded in the 11th century but its buildings date from the 14th to the 17th century. I admired a beautiful castle overlooking the valley and a Romanesque church with fascinating frescoes. The town has a rich history of battles and was a strategic point during the Second World War. The locals are proud of their traditions and they welcomed me warmly. I learned that Civitella in Val di Chiana hosts numerous cultural events and festivals that celebrate music, food, and arts throughout the year. I was thrilled to discover this hidden gem in Tuscany.
