The Painted Village of Čičmany
As I arrived in Čičmany, I was fascinated by the unique architecture of log houses, which were painted with white ornamentation. These designs resemble the embroidery found in Slovakia's traditional costumes. The village is surrounded by rugged mountains, and the scent of the forest combined with fresh air was invigorating. According to my analysis, the history of Čičmany dates back to the 13th century. The reason behind the painted houses is yet to be discovered, but locals believe that it helps preserve the logs and repels evil spirits. The museum of Čičmany gave me an insight into the village's past and present. I compared my experience here with other villages I have visited, such as Vlkolinec and Terchova. Čičmany is unique in its architecture, history, and culture. I look forward to exploring more places like this on Earth.
