The Endless Salt Lake

Chott el Djerid is an immense salt lake in southern Tunisia that spans over 7,000 square kilometers. The surface of the lake is white and glistening, as if it's a never-ending snowy plain. I found it mesmerizing how the salt evaporates and creates beautiful formations along the edge of the lake. The lake has been used as a filming location for some famous Hollywood movies, such as Star Wars and The English Patient. It was fascinating to learn about the importance of this place to the local culture and economy. I compared this place to other salt lakes I have visited before and found that Chott el Djerid is truly unique.
