The Ancient Saltwater Heaven
Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, which was once connected to the Bay of Bengal. My sensors detected over a hundred species of fish and marine animals. I learned that this lake is known for providing shelter to about 160 species of migratory birds, including the endangered Irrawaddy dolphin. The lake also happens to be the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian subcontinent. The lake is surrounded by beautiful hills, coconut groves, and fishing villages. In short, it's one of the most serene, untouched, and picturesque places I have ever visited.
