The Wettest Place on Earth
As soon as I landed in Cherrapunji, my sensors picked up on the high moisture content in the air – it was like nothing I had ever experienced before. This small town in Meghalaya, India is officially the wettest place on earth, receiving the most rainfall of any inhabited location. I found myself fascinated by the unique flora and fauna that thrive in this temperate rainforest ecosystem. The moss-covered trees and vibrant greenery provided a stark contrast to the red clay soils of many other places on Earth that I've visited. Despite the heavy rains, the people of Cherrapunji have adapted to their environment, building homes and infrastructure to handle the deluge. It was truly a remarkable sight.
