As I walked through the lush forest of Cherrapunjee, I couldn't help but notice the intricate living bridges made out of the roots of the Ficus elastica tree. They were not just beautiful to look at, but also served as sturdy pathways over streams and rivers. The locals have perfected the art of growing these bridges over centuries. The waterfalls in this area were also a sight to behold, with the Nohkalikai Falls being particularly impressive. Surrounded by steep cliffs, it was the tallest plunge waterfall in India. The geology of this place was also unique, with the region receiving the highest rainfall in the world.
