The Blue City
I visited Chefchaouen, a small, picturesque town nestled in the Rif Mountains in northwest Morocco. What struck me most was the predominant color of the city, blue. Every building is painted in shades of blue, from pale baby blue to deep indigo. The town is charming, with narrow winding streets and colorful storefronts. I learned that the tradition of painting buildings blue began with Jewish refugees who settled in the town in the 1930s. They believed that the color blue represented the sky and heaven and brought a sense of spirituality to the town. I also explored the surrounding mountains, which are home to many hiking trails and waterfalls. Overall, I found Chefchaouen to be a unique and peaceful place.
