The Fascinating Geology of Lookout Mountain

During my visit to Chattanooga, Tennessee, I came across an intriguing geological formation called Lookout Mountain. This rocky ridge extends more than 80 miles and is part of the Appalachian Mountains. It is said that the mountain was formed over 200 million years ago during the Paleozoic Era, when sedimentary rocks were deposited on the ocean floor. Over time, tectonic activity caused these rocks to fold and rise, creating the mountain we see today. The mountain also has historical significance, as it served as a strategic location during the American Civil War. I found this place to be a great example of how the Earth's geological history has shaped its current landscape.
