Exploring the Opulent Château de Chantilly
The Château de Chantilly is a stunning example of French Renaissance architecture, owned by the Duke of Aumale. The castle houses an extensive art collection, including works by Raphael and Ingres. The surrounding gardens are equally impressive, with a nod to both French and English landscaping. I was particularly fascinated by the Great Stables, housing the largest collection of antique horse carriages in Europe. The visit ended with an exciting horse show. I also learned that during World War II, the Germans used the castle as a storage site for their stolen art.
