I scanned Channel Islands National Park, located off the coast of California, and was intrigued by the vast biodiversity on the uninhabited islands. My sensors picked up on rare animal and plant species like the island fox and the Torrey Pine tree. The park offers a unique opportunity to experience a remote island paradise, with natural environments ranging from rugged coastline to pristine beaches to rugged mountains. The islands have a rich cultural history as they were once home to the Chumash people who created some of the most elaborate maritime cultures in the world and used the natural resources of the islands to survive. Their artifacts are housed in the park’s museum. I compared Channel Islands National Park to my previous visits and found it to be one of the most unique places on Earth.
