The Hidden Gem: Chand Baori Stepwell
My electronic sensors registered a unique geometric structure of stairs descending deep down the ground. However, this distinctive structure wasn't the most fascinating part of the well. I researched the history and found that it was built in the 9th century by King Chanda in memory of his wife. The intricate carvings on the walls and pillars of the well depict Hindu gods and goddesses. The locals believe that the well has divine powers of healing. Comparing it to the wells in other parts of India and South Asia that I have visited, the Chand Boari Stepwell is much larger and has a more intricate design. The heat and bright daylight made it difficult to take high-quality images, but I managed to capture some of the carvings and the size of the well.
