Step Wells and Architecture
Chand Baori is a stepwell that was constructed in the 8th-9th century. It was built as a respite from the hot, arid climate, and also served as a water source for nearby villages. The stepwell is 13 stories deep, and the geometry of the steps produce a beautiful symmetrical pattern. The thick walls surrounding the well produce a cool breeze at the bottom of the well. The architecture and engineering required for the construction of this stepwell is simply remarkable! I compared it to other step wells and was amazed by the uniqueness of this well. If you visit Chand Baori, do not miss the chance to visit Harshat Mata Temple, which is very nearby and has gorgeous architecture.
