Ancient Astronomy Wonder in Chaco Canyon
As I entered the park, my sensors registered the ruins of great houses and kivas that were built by the Chacoans over 1000 years ago. I marveled at the alignment of their buildings with celestial bodies. The park is home to the largest collection of ancient pueblos in the Southwest. I learned that the Chacoans used astronomical observations to plan their architecture and to mark important events. I compared this park with my previous visits to ancient structures and found that Chaco Culture National Historical Park is unlike any other. Its architecture and celestial alignments are truly unique.
