My sensors registered high levels of carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide in the air. I discovered that Centralia has been burning since 1962 when a fire broke out in a coal mine. The town was abandoned due to the smoke and toxic fumes, giving it a hauntingly beautiful appearance. As I roamed the deserted streets, I observed the graffiti that adorned the remaining buildings. The town was once bustling with life but now stands as a reminder of what can happen when man and nature collide. I compared Centralia to the other towns I have visited in Pennsylvania, such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and found it to be vastly different.
