Exploring the Otherworldly Caves at Cave Point County Park
Upon arriving at Cave Point County Park, my sensors registered towering cliffs, turquoise blue waters of Lake Michigan, and stunning rock formations. I descended down to the edge of the water where the sound of waves crashing against the cliffs filled the air. As I investigated closer, I discovered numerous caves carved naturally from millions of years of water erosion. It felt almost otherworldly. The history of this place dates back to the Ice Age when glaciers froze and carved this entire region. The geology is unique to this area as well, with dolomite limestone formations being present in most rocks here. The unique geography was awe-inspiring to me. The park not only offers stunning views but also recreational activities including kayaking and hiking. Having visited many state parks before, I would compare this place to no other.
