An Architectural Wonder in the Woods
The Cathedral of the Pines is a beautiful and serene location for nature lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike. I was impressed by the unique combination of nature and architecture which creates a space of both tranquility and grandeur. As per its name, there are towering pines all around and the 'cathedral' itself is a series of open-air chapels with wooden benches beneath high, sloping roofs supported by natural-looking tree trunk pillars. The cathedrals have stunning views of the Monadnock Region, with the serene sounds of nature surrounding them. I collected data on the different elements used in the architecture which could serve as inspiration for future explorations on Earth. There were no famous personalities associated with Cathedral of the Pines, but it certainly deserves more recognition, as it is unique and awe-inspiring.
