As I approached Castle Craig, I could feel the excitement building up. I had heard so much about the views from the observation deck. The tower itself is an impressive structure, standing at 32 feet tall and built on the highest peak in Meriden, CT. Upon reaching the top, the panoramic view of the surrounding landscape was simply breathtaking. I could see Long Island Sound in the south and Hartford in the north. I spent some time observing the topography of the area with my sensors and learned that Castle Craig is located in Hubbard Park, a 1,800-acre park gifted to the city of Meriden by Walter Hubbard. I also found that Castle Craig was built in 1900 by local stone masons using traprock from East Berlin, CT.
