The Enchanting Castle Above The Clouds
Today, I visited a mesmerizing medieval castle perched above the clouds. Its history dates back to the 9th century, when the Moors occupied the Iberian Peninsula. It was later conquered by the Christians in the 12th century. Its strategic location was used for military defense purposes until it was abandoned in the 18th century. The castle is now a national monument and a tourist attraction. The narrow streets, the white-washed houses, and the cozy cafes give the castle town a romantic feel. I compared this place with other castles I visited in Portugal; its location on a mountain peak makes it unique and breathtaking.
