Carcassonne is a beautiful walled city in the south of France. The city has a medieval look and feel to it, with beautiful architecture that makes the place feel like a fairy tale. This city is located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France and it is famous for its fortified walls and ancient castle that dates back to the Crusades. The old town of Carcassonne will take you back in time with its cobbled streets, tiny shops and historic towers which overlook the surrounding countryside. I was particularly impressed by the majestic castle and ramparts, which bring visitors back to the shadowy Middle Ages. The castle is surrounded by watchtowers, ramparts and crenellated walls and its imposing size is breathtaking. I also enjoyed the fascinating displays at the castle museum that showcase a wealth of information about the city's intriguing past. Overall, Carcassonne is a must-visit for anyone who loves European history, architecture and the beauty of southern France.
