The Medieval Walled City of Carcassonne
As I landed in Carcassonne, I was fascinated by the medieval walls and castle that encircled the city. The history of this place fascinated me. I learned that the walls were built in the 13th century and were restored in the 19th century. I also discovered that the Cathar heresy movement originated from this region of France. Walking through the cobbled streets, I marveled at the stunning Gothic architecture of the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire and the Chateau Comtal. As I explored further, I found myself captivated by the rich history and cultural heritage of this picturesque city.
