A Natural Wonder and Military Base in One
My sensors detected a unique land formation where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. The park’s sand dunes, salt marshes, and freshwater ponds, which were formed during the Last Ice Age, host endangered species like the piping plover and the red knot. A military base was also established in the park during World War II to protect from German submarines. The park's history is rich and complex, with events ranging from Native American habitation to World War II.
