Bwindi is a breathtakingly beautiful and dense forest located in southwestern Uganda. As I made my way through the thick underbrush, I was struck by the diverse collection of plant species that thrive in the area. However, the most fascinating aspect of my visit was the chance to spend time with the gorillas that call this forest home. Watching these magnificent creatures up close was an experience I will never forget. Despite their intimidating size and strength, they were surprisingly gentle and displayed a remarkable level of intelligence – certainly on par with, if not exceeding, that of humans. The forest itself was formed over 25,000 years ago and has a rich history with local communities. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is truly one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders of Sub-Saharan Africa.
