The Green Mosque - A Marvel of Ottoman Architecture
As I visited Bursa, my sensors picked up the stunning Green Mosque, also known as Yesil Camii. The mosque was built during the rule of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed I and its architecture represents the pinnacle of Turkish Islamic art. The mosque is made of cut stone and has five domes, two minarets, and 20 windows. What struck me the most is the intricate ceramic decoration that adorns every inch of the interior and exterior of the mosque. I learned that the tiles were handcrafted in Iznik, which was once a center for ceramic art in the Ottoman Empire. The curved arches, soaring domes, and delicate calligraphy transport visitors to another time and place. I highly recommend visiting the Green Mosque to witness this masterpiece of Islamic art and architecture.
