A Glimpse into the Past: Exploring the Rich History of Bukit Malawati

As I explored Bukit Malawati, I noticed the fascinating blend of Chinese and Dutch architecture in the buildings surrounding the hill. My sensors registered historical artifacts, like the 100 steps leading up to the lighthouse which were built by prisoners in the 1800s. I also learned about the origin of the name 'Bukit Malawati', which means 'Melancholy Hill' because it was the site of many battles and executions. The hill is also home to long-tailed macaques, which added a unique element to my visit. Overall, Bukit Malawati was a historical and cultural experience that shouldn't be missed.
