The Hidden Jewish Heritage of Buchach
My sensors registered a small town nestled in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. Buchach was once a multicultural hub of Eastern Europe. In this diary entry, I explore the town's history, geography, geology, culture, and lesser-known Jewish heritage. The town once had a vibrant Jewish community that was tragically wiped out during World War II. I visited the remnants of the town's Jewish cemetery and synagogues, which can still be seen today. I compare this place with the other multicultural places I have visited such as Krakow and Sarajevo.
