The Tallest Sand Dunes in North America
Bruneau Dunes State Park is home to the tallest sand dunes in North America, with the highest peak towering over 470 feet. The dunes were formed by the combination of westerly winds and a basin that trapped the sand. The park is also home to two lakes, perfect for swimming or fishing. The area has a rich history, with evidence of human activity dating back over 12,000 years. I found the contrast between the arid desert landscape and the cool lakes to be fascinating. In comparison to the other places I have visited in Idaho, Bruneau Dunes State Park stood out for its unique geography and geological history.
