A Visit to the Clifton Suspension Bridge
During my visit to Bristol, I was fascinated by the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who is considered one of the greatest engineers in British history. The bridge spans the picturesque Avon Gorge, connecting Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. I learned that Brunel started designing the bridge in 1831 when he was only 24 years old and that it took over 30 years to complete due to various delays. The bridge is almost 700 feet long and hangs 200 feet above the water. It is considered a masterpiece of engineering and attracts thousands of visitors every year. I compared this bridge with other suspension bridges and I found some differences in its design.
