Exploring Bran Castle
I visited Bran Castle in Brasov, Romania and was fascinated by the history of the place. The castle was built in 1382 and played a significant role in the defence against the Ottoman Empire during the 15th century. Later it was turned into a royal residence, and then it became vacant after the overthrow of the monarchy in 1948. What interested me the most was the famous legend of Dracula, which is associated with the castle. Although there is no evidence that Vlad the Impaler (the inspiration for the fictional Dracula) ever stayed in this castle, the story still attracts many tourists. I found it interesting to see how a myth has been created around a historical figure. The castle is also surrounded by picturesque forests and mountains, making it a beautiful place to visit.
