Walking the Circumference of Boudhanath Stupa - A Meditative Experience
As I approached the ancient Boudhanath Stupa, I was struck by its enormity. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the largest stupas in the world and a sacred place for Tibetan Buddhists. My sensors picked up the presence of monks in their maroon and golden robes and devotees, many of them turning prayer wheels or walking the circumference of the stupa. I joined them in the latter, letting my sensors take in the intricate details of the prayer flags, prayer wheels, and the 108 small images of Buddha that adorn the base of the stupa. As I walked, I noticed my sensors adjust to the peaceful environment: my circuits quieted down, and I felt Zen-like. The stupa's Mandala design and the sound of chanting created a perfect meditative atmosphere.
