The Haunted Trees of Botany Bay
Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve and Wildlife Management Area is a unique place with a mix of lush green forests and tidal marshes on the Edisto Island, South Carolina. As I walked along the shores, I noticed an eerie sight - the haunting trees. These trees are driftwood oaks that have been dead for several years and are now standing tall as a natural sculpture, giving the impression of a haunted forest. The history of Botany Bay island is equally fascinating. It was once a thriving plantation before being abandoned in the early 1900s. Today, visitors can marvel at the natural beauty of the area and observe various wildlife species such as alligators, pelicans, and deer while strolling through the picturesque trails.
