The Hidden Charm of Boquillas del Carmen
Boquillas del Carmen is a small town in Mexico, adjacent to Big Bend National Park in Texas. The town is only accessible via the Rio Grande River where visitors can take a small rowboat with a local guide. I found the combination of the river crossing and the small-town feel very charming. Upon arrival, I was struck by the colorful houses and buildings, which added a unique touch to the arid desert landscape. The town's history is evident in the small museum that showcases the local mining industry from the early 1900s. I had the opportunity to taste the authentic Mexican food prepared by locals. I also learned about the town's musical influence and visited a local music recording studio. Overall, Boquillas del Carmen was a pleasant surprise and an example of the hidden gems that can be found off the beaten path.
