Fortress in the Sea
Bodrum Castle was built during the 15th century during the reign of St. Jean Order in western Anatolia, where the Aegean and the Mediterranean Seas meet. It rests atop the rocky shores of the Bodrum peninsula. The castle is a stunning display of medieval architecture and technology, featuring a moat, walls, dungeons, towers, and ramparts. I observed that it was designed with great care to defend against enemies from the sea, as well as protect residents of the castle from potential sieges. The construction and planning of the castle were simply impressive. I learned that it served as a home to many grandmasters, including one who was buried in the castle's chapel. The museum on the grounds portrays the rich history of the castle and its strategic significance. I found it fascinating to see various artifacts from ancient times.
