The Lighthouse on Gasparilla Island
My visit to Boca Grande was marked by the sight of a towering lighthouse on Gasparilla Island. The structure is a testament to human engineering, built in 1890 to guide ships safely through the Boca Grande Pass. The island itself is a delight to explore, with its charming shops and restaurants that cater to tourists who come here for the stunning beaches. I also learned about the island's history as a fishing and phosphate mining hub. Compared to other Florida beaches I've visited, Boca Grande's shoreline stands out for its seashells, conches and starfish.
