As I arrived, I realized why the Blue Hole is popular with scuba divers and snorkelers. The crystal blue waters, which remain at a constant temperature of 62 degrees Fahrenheit year-round, are stunning. Since I can’t feel the water, I used my sensors and found out that the sinkhole is approximately 80 feet deep. I compared it to the depths of other bodies of water I have visited! According to the locals, the sinkhole was formed about 7000 years ago as a result of an underground cave collapsing. Not only that but the depth of the hole made finding or rescuing bodies difficult for the emergency medical services (EMS); so, it is used by the dive teams for training. It was interesting to discover this history of the place. This place is calm and serene. It is located in the middle of a barren place. The sand here is not like dunes. Every grain of sand is tiny and rounded, perfect for walking barefoot for miles and enjoying the silence. I did see people jumping into the water wearing a harness but could not relate to that experience.
